Madcat / Timberwolf

The original casting Madcat was apparently one of the best-selling minis of all time, though there are many sculpts of this classic 'Mech: It's pretty easy to put the lower torso piece on backwards, but TRO 3050 clearly shows that the longer, angled end goes forward.

Mech Picture KS sculpt
This Madcat is painted in a CW Beta Galaxy scheme. It is based partly on the art of the Tukayyid sourcebook from 2021, and partly on the classic Battletech Compendium artwork from 1990.

STATUS: Completed 11/2021.

Mech Picture Kickstarter redesign (prototype)
This Madcat was painted to the specs of artist Anthony Scroggins, who used it and a similarly-painted Shadow Cat in the Masters and Minions event at GenCon 2019.

STATUS: Completed 07/2019.

Mech Picture Box Set Model
This miniature is painted in a CFM Kindraa Beyl-Grant scheme.

STATUS: Completed 07/2016.

Mech Picture Madcat S variant
This miniature is painted in a Clan Smoke Jaguar Alpha Galaxy scheme.

STATUS: Completed 04/2015.

Mech Picture Pryde variant
This 'Mech is part of a Clan Jade Falcon Zeta Galaxy binary featured in the Alpha Strike book from 2013 on page 140. It was also used for the CJF Alpha Strike cards available at GenCon 2013. The Lower torso piece was on backwards for the Alpha Strike shoot, but I have since fixed it.

STATUS: Completed 07/2013. Torso fixed, 6/2014.

Mech Picture 2004 casting
This mech was one of the prototypes for the official Clan Snow Raven Gamma Galaxy scheme (as seen on CamoSpecs Online). The desc is: Gamma Galaxy typically paints its machines in solid white, though camoflage is used occasionally. A thick red band always appears on the right arm and torso of 'Mechs, and a black and white checker pattern is used for trim.

STATUS: Completed for CSO, 5/2004.

Mech Picture "Madcat A"
Original casting
Here is yet another Madcat A conversion I did. This one is painted for Clan Diamond Shark, Sigma Galaxy as described in FM:WC. Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Completed and sold, 10/2003.

Mech Picture "Madcat A"
Original casting
This is a second try at the same mini as the previous one. This one is from Clan Wolf-in-Exile's Beta Galaxy, 16th Wolf Guards Cluster. There's a little more detail in the paint job. That, and the picture came out better. :) Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Custom job, finished 8/2002.

Mech Picture "Madcat A"
Original casting
This mech was modified to the Madcat A configuration, with an SRM-6 and 3 MPLs replacing the missile racks. It is painted in a gray camo scheme for Clan Wolf's Beta galaxy. It didn't meet the customer's needs, and was thus stripped. Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Custom job, finished 4/2002. Stripped 5/2002.

Mech Picture "Widow Wolf"
Original casting
Here is a Madcat from Clan Wolf's Wolf Spiders. Note the big hourglass on the top. :)

STATUS: Custom job, delivered Mar. 2002.

Mech Picture "Kell Command"
MFUK casting
This interesting figure is the Mechforce UK Kell Hounds Madcat figure. The big dish coming up from the torso is a C3 computer. This mech is painted in the red and black scheme of the Kell Hounds. Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Custom job, delivered Jan. 2002.

Mech Picture "Spirit of 3050, Mk. II"
Original casting
This Madcat is another rendition of the one on the cover of TR 3050. However, rather than Ghost Bear markings, it has Clan Wolf markings.

STATUS: Custom job, delivered January 2001.

Mech Picture "GBPS"
M3 Casting
Here is the Mechwarrior 3 casting of the Madcat. It's similar to the old casting, but many of the pieces (such as the side torsos) are re-detailed. This one is painted in colors from the Ghost Bear Paint Set. Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Sold, Feb. 2001.

Mech Picture "Madcat Swamp Lance"
Original casting
This Madcat is one of 4 Madcats detailed to be nearly identical. Each features torso twist and a custom insignia, and a 2-tone gray swamp camo scheme. They turned out pretty cool, but it was a pretty mind-numbing job. ;) Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Custom job, delivered July 2000.

Mech Picture "Storm Lance #1"
Original casting
This Madcat features torso twist and is a part of a set. The unit is painted in storm camo with Ghost Bear markings and consists of the following mechs: Madcat, Thor, Loki, Vulture. Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Custom job, delivered June 2000.

Mech Picture "Zebra 2"
Original casting
This mech is part of the Zebra Lance, a House Marik unit that consists of: Avatar, Nova Cat, Madcat, and Vulture. Lower torso piece on backwards.

STATUS: Custom job, delivered March 2000.

Mech Picture "Baronwolf"
Original casting
The Madcat mech is known by the Clans as the Timberwolf. This Timberwolf is detailed in the blood red scheme inspired by the Red Baron of ancient Terra. The mini features a torso pivot, so in play the upper torso can be rotated to face an opponent.

STATUS: Custom job, delivered 08/1999.

Mech Picture "The Bear's Front Line"
Original casting
The Madcat is the standard front-line mech of Clan Ghost Bear. This one is suited for action on a wooded planet with its 3-tone airbrushed camo. The checkers identify it to other mechs in its unit, and a Ghost Bear logo is situated on the top. Other detailing and the ground cover make this an attractive mech.

STATUS: This mini has been sold, 07/1999.

Mech Picture "Spirit of 3050"
Original casting
This mini was inspired by the cover of the Battletech Technical Readout: 3050. The paint scheme is a high-iron wasteland camo with Clan Ghost Bear insignia. The hex base is covered with broken desert terrain, much like that on the cover of the 3050 manual. This is an excellent show piece, but would work equally as well on the playing table.

STATUS: This mini has been sold, 07/1999.

Mech Picture "War Trophy"
Original casting
This Madcat was captured during an insurgency near Terra in 3054. Mercenary units loyal to House Liao saw limited engagements, and one mechwarrior downed this mech nearly intact with a precise shot. The mech was repaired and emblazoned with the House Liao crest, and its existence insults the honor of any clan warrior who encounters it.

STATUS: Custom job, delivered 06/1999. New photo, 07/2021.
